Rockwell Automation won a high-value contract to develop the world's largest open-pit copper mine project in Chile (Milwaukee, August 22, 2018). Recently, Codelco, one of the world's largest copper mine producers, signed a high-value contract worth about US $50million with Rockwell Automation. According to the contract, Rockwell Automation will provide Codelco with a series of important systems for the development of Chuquicamata super caving underground copper mine in Chile

Rockwell Automation will work together with Codelco to promote the technological upgrading of this 100 year old open-pit copper mine with the largest scale in the world, and become a super caving copper mine with block caving mining method. This advanced mining technology is expected to extend the service life of the copper mine by more than 40 years, thereby achieving higher asset utilization

caving mining method can achieve higher productivity at lower cost, so it has been more and more widely used. The principle of ore block caving mining method is to pull the bottom of the ore block, induce the ore body to collapse under the action of gravity, and gradually decompose the ore as a whole

the control system of the copper mine is composed of four subsystems. The contract specifies in detail the engineering design, supply, configuration and assembly of these systems, which are made of silk fiber and polylactic acid fiber. The system includes integrated operation platform, security system, monitoring and control network, predictive maintenance and general management network

I'm glad Codelco chose us to implement this large-scale mining project, said Alejandro capparelli, President of Rockwell Automation Latin America. We are committed to helping our customers realize the vision of Internet enterprises. Our cooperation can not only increase the output of copper mines, but also help reduce operating costs. With the integration of Rockwell Automation, different auxiliary tools can be replaced to realize different material experiment control and information systems, interconnection services and deep professional experience, Codelco will get more value returns at all stages of mining operations

Rockwell Automation has entered the engineering and construction stage in advance, and the project will be launched in mid-2019. The annual output is expected to be 320000 tons of pure copper and 15000 tons of molybdenum
